Something Fabulous - Making your own invitations...

Top 3 tips to getting started
Many brides today elect to make their own invitations using the myriad of gorgeous papers and embellishments that are now on the market. Create a unique stationary theme for your wedding at a fraction of the cost of professional hand made invitations.

1. Decide on your Wedding Theme
This is probably the biggest decision you will have to make when organising your wedding, but once decided on, your options will be greatly reduced and easier to manage.

Seek inspiration from colours, flowers, destinations & locations, seasons, or even your favorite book or film (think Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Pride and Prejudice). Your chosen venue could even suggest an overall look, for example a garden or beach theme. Even a texture could be the starting point for your theme (think about the luxurious nature of satin, silk or lace).

Once you have your theme in place, visit a specialist paper and craft store and search through the papers that suit your theme.

2. Choose your envelopes first and then make a prototype
When you are putting together your prototype, make sure that you choose your invitation size first. The best way to do this is to look at the standard envelope sizes and choose one of these to work with. It is easy to get carried away with all the wonderful layering options, only to find, after all your hard work, that your invitation does not fit into a standard size envelope.
3. Post your invitation to yourself
When you make your prototype, pop it in your chosen envelope and post it to yourself, sounds weird...? This is the perfect way to see first hand how your invitation withstands the rigors of the postal system.

You will also find out how much the postage will cost and if your envelope or box arrives in good condition. If you are using an unusual embellishment or fastener, this is especially important. We heard of one bride, who used a clay shell for her beach theme invitations, unfortunately the clay shells disintegrated in the mail and most of the guests received sand in the bottom of their envelope. It still fit with the theme, but was not the look she was after!

Do You Believe In Perfect Love?

Does perfect love even exist? Those of you who have been captured by 'Twilight' fever like me, will say yes! Edward's love for Bella is perfect, but what about in the real world? Do we really believe in the possibility of finding our one true love?

This year's international poll by the Harlequin Romance Report has revealed some interesting beliefs. Apparantly we are torn, with only 51% of women & 52% of men believing in perfect love.
Aussie men though, are much more optimistic with 91% believing while only 55% of Aussie women do.

So what are we looking for and what are we prepared to do? Well according to the report:

The majority of French & German women will attend a concert or event they are not interested in with the hope they may meet Mr. Right!

80% of Spanish men work out excessivley to impress the ladies!

The majority of American & Dutch women want a man who understands that "choreplay" is sexier that "foreplay"!

French women want a better looking partner while French men want a more cultured one.

What is perfection anyway? It is a quality, trait or feature of the highest degree - but only in the eyes of the beholder!

I personally think that this quest is definitely possible, because you are looking for that special someone who only needs to be perfect for you.

Do you agree? Let me know if you have found your perfect love and what makes them perfect in your eyes.
